Here are some ideas on where to take your wedding photos in Rome.

Wedding photos in the alleys and the squares in the historic center

The alleys in the historic center of Rome are very picturesque and a stroll around them is perfect to take candid photographs that, unlike traditional landmark wedding photos, will be able to capture your true gestures and emotions as well as the historic atmosphere permeating many corners and the most authentic spirit of the city.

Trastervere, Monti and the districts in the historic center are probably the best locations for this type of photos. Ambling through the alleys with their small shops and the courtyard of the old buildings, you will be immersed in a unique and genuine ambiance and your pictures will have a true “Rome vibe” to them too.

The panoramic viewpoints of the city

Strolling around the center of Rome it is impossible not to stumble upon a monument or a panoramic viewpoint offering a spellbinding vista of the city. The Capitoline hill, overlooking the Imperial Fora, and the Giardino degli Aranci (Orange Garden) are just two of the “natural terraces” with breathtaking views of Rome. If you want to have the Eternal City as the background of your wedding photos, these panoramic viewpoints are the locations you are looking for.

The parks

Rome is one of the European capitals with more urban green spaces. Thanks to its abundance of parks and gardens, the Eternal City has many little slices of heaven where you can escape urban hustle and bustle and immerse yourself in nature, finding a more relaxing green dimension.

In our opinion, the best locations to shoot wedding photos in Rome in a park are Villa Borghese and Villa Doria Pamphilj.

Villa Borghese is in the center of Rome and has big green spaces, beautiful panoramic terraces and a small picturesque lake navigable by row boat Here a map of Villa Borghese. Villa Pamphilj, on the other hand, was originally the lavish country house of the homonymous aristocratic family and is the largest landscaped park in Rome. It lures people with its artistic quality and its charm and is undoubtedly one of the best preserved villas in the city, so it is perfect for couples who love nature, art and history.

Along the Tiber

The Tiber, which flows north to south through the Eternal City, offers many interesting locations for beautiful wedding photos in Rome. Besides the small Tiber Island, which lies in the middle of the river in the heart of the city, the Tiber has very nice pedestrian routes on its banks that are protected from traffic and urban noises, where you can also be in touch with nature. Whether you choose to walk down the lower banks or to stroll along the upper boulevards flanking the river, called Lungotevere, you will be in the ideal location for romantic and warm wedding photos illuminated by the golden light that filters through the foliage of plane trees.
